PURPOSE: To obtain a cell new of a microorganism, having the pathogenicity against weeds in paddy fields such as Eleo charis kuroguwai Ohwi, nontoxic to crops such as rice plant, having a short latent period and culturable in a liquid, a herbicide containing the same as an active ingredient and a preparing means thereof.

CONSTITUTION: This chlamydospore is that of Nimbya scirpicola K-004 (FERM BP-4448) and this herbicide contains the same as an active ingredient. Further, this inducing medium for the Nimbiya scirpicola K-004 contains 0.1-10% carbon source, 0.05-5% sodium nitrate as a nitrogen source, 0.05-5.0% yeast extract and 0.01-1.0% potassium phosphate, 0.001-0.1% magnesium sulfate, 0.01-1.0% calcium carbonate, 0.0001-O.01% zinc chloride and 0.00005-0.005% iron chloride as inorganic salts.
