Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a choke coil for a switching source which is made of Fe- base amorphous alloy which has low iron loss at high frequency range, excellent frequency characteristics of inductance, excellent DC superposition characteristics, high saturated flux density and excellent thermal stability by introducing amorphous alloy expressed by a formula Fe(a)Si(b)B(c)C(d),where (a), (b), (c) and (d) are within a specific range and (a)+(b)+(c)+(d)=100.

CONSTITUTION: Fe-base amorphous alloy is expressed by a formula Fe(a)Si(b)B(c) C(d), where 77≤(a)≤82, 4≤(b)≤10, 12≤(c)≤17, 0≤(d)≤3 and (a)+(b)+(c)+(d)= 100. The alloy with low loss and excellent frequency characteristics of inductance can be obtained when the sum of silicon and boron is between 18 and 23wt%. When this amorphous alloy is used for a choke coil, amorphous content of more than 90%, preferably 95%, is desirable in order to obtain required characteristics.
