To provide a chopstick rest that facilitates washing of the inside thereof as well as preparation of the chopsticks thereon.

A chopstick rest A comprises: a base part 1 with a planar section on which the heads of a pair of chopsticks 25, 26 to be prepared can slide; an opposite part 5 which is connected to the base part 1 and which opposes the planar section of the base part 1; a stopper part 8 which restricts the opening angle of the tip ends of the prepared chopsticks 25, 26 to a prescribed opening angle; a first elastic body 15 which is arranged between the base part 1 and the opposite part 5 and which presses the heads of the prepared chopsticks 25, 26 toward the base part 1; and a second elastic body 19 which makes the heads of the chopsticks 25, 26 slidable on the planar section of the base part 1 and which presses the tip ends of the chopsticks 25,26 to the stopper part 8 and spreads the tip ends to a prescribed opening angle. When a force is imparted to the tip ends of the chopsticks 25, 26 in the closing direction, the chopsticks 25, 26 rotate with one end of the stopper part 8 as a fulcrum.
