PURPOSE: To provide a spring type chuck with a simple structure and a low cost for holding a tightening member in always stable posture, which is not opened by shock at the time of drop of the tightening member supplied by the press-feed of air.

CONSTITUTION: The device is provided with a chuck 2 provided with a supply member 3 for forming a passage in which the bolt 1 of a tightening member is dropped by the press-feed of air, a pair of swing members 4 arranged openably/closably in the radius direction of the passage on the lower end of the supply member 3 and an elastic member 5 for energizing elasticity in the direction whose lower end is always closed on respective swing members 4 and a chuck brake means 15 for preventing the opening of the swing members 4 properly by the releasable engagement with the outer periphery of the lower ends of the closed respective swing members 4 of each chuck 2. A bolt 1 is dropped and supplied from right upward of the swing members 4 engaged with the chuck brake means 15 and the bolt 1 is hanged down and held by the lower ends of the swing members 4.
