Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent a jaw guide from being bited, injured, or intruded by a chuck jaw, without changing the other parts and also without greatly changing the manufacturing cost of the jaw or the like, by providing a projection at the lower part of the back surface of the jaw, and by cutting off the front and rear ends of the biting edge parts in a tapered shape at two places on the chucking side.
CONSTITUTION: A projection 2 is provided to the lower part of the back surface of a jaw, so that the side sliding end parts of the jaw can be prevented from being bitten into a jaw guide slit part 9, or a jaw guide 8 from being injured, or the bottom part of the jaw from being intruded into the inside of the jaw guide 8, and that a bit or the like can be released. The front and rear ends of the biting edge part are cut off in a taper shape, so that even if the chuck jaw is slightly tilted, the bit is prevented from being fixed at the front or rear end on the chucking side, thereby the runout of the center of the bit can be restrained. The surface roughness is reduced, and the sliding resistance between the chuck jaw and the other parts is reduced, and also the operating force at the time when the bit is fastened and fixed, or released is reduced.
