To rotate a chucking device for stably grasping the end parts of various articles to be rotated and the articles while the device and the full surfaced of the articles are kept in exposed states.

An article rotating device includes a base frame 2, a fixed frame 3, a movable frame 4, rotary shafts 5 and 6 supported on both frames 3 and 4, chucking devices 8 and 9 provided in the inner end parts of these rotary shafts 5 and 6 and an electric motor for rotary-driving the rotary shaft 5. Various articles W formed to be platelike, disklike, boxlike, H-shaped or square cylindrical or the like for metallic mold, welding or painting are rotated by a desired angle while both end parts thereof are held by the chucking devices 8 and 9.
