Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cigarette-inspection apparatus capable of readily and precisely detecting lack of chopped tobacco at the tip of a cigarette.
SOLUTION: This cigarette-inspection apparatus has a regulating guide 12 for arranging cigarettes FS by contacting with butt parts of the cigarettes FS conveyed in straight line, and a laser length measuring machine 13 installed at a prescribed distance from the cigarettes FS arranged in line by the regulating guide 12 and conveyed, at the position facing to the tip parts of the cigarettes FS, and measuring the distances to the tip parts of the cigarettes. A judging part 14 of the lack of cut tobacco judges the presence or absence of the lack of the chopped tobacco at the tip part of the cigarette according to the distance measured by scanning the tip part of the cigarette by the laser length measuring machine 13, for example, by calculating an averaged lacking amount from a standard face.
