To provide a circuit breaker capable of reducing a cut-off current at cut-off and a passage energy caused by the cut-off current by processing an operation of overcurrent detecting function at high speed after starting a power supply without depending on the precision of an oscillation frequency of an internal oscillation circuit.
The circuit breaker includes: an external oscillation circuit 14 for generating a high-speed external clock for operating a microcomputer 8 at high speed; a time circuit 15 for setting a time period corresponding to an oscillation stable period from start of the external oscillation circuit to oscillation stabilization; and an operation clock selection circuit 13 which supplies a low-speed internal clock from an internal oscillation circuit 12 as the operation clock of the microcomputer at the start of the microcomputer, and selectively supplies a high-speed external clock from the external oscillation circuit as the operation clock of the microcomputer after the time set by the time circuit passes.
