To provide a circuit breaker that can be offered to a user at an early stage by shortening a development period, while suppressing a development cost, and capable of applying time limit characteristic control to a load current without requiring to replace an apparatus inside a distribution board, even when changing a contract current agreed upon, between a power company and the user.
This circuit breaker is at least equipped with first and second current transformers 105, 106 provided in each of electrical paths 10 of a plurality of phases for detecting the magnitude of a load current; a switching mechanism 103 for turning the electrical paths on and off, an operating handle 130 interlocked with the switching mechanism; a tripping means 104 to start tripping action, by acting on the switching mechanism, when a prescribed current flows in the electrical paths and a trip coil 109, in the breaker body 101 of the circuit breaker 1; and an arithmetic control part 2, equipped at least with a current setting part 202 for fixing a threshold current, to make the trip coil and an action control part 201 operate to carry out time-limit characteristic control, by comparing the magnitude of the load current with a set current value fixed, is provided adjacent to the breaker body.
