To provide a circuit breaker that can interrupt an arc more quickly or a circuit breaker that can interrupt a current even when an applied voltage is high.
The circuit breaker comprises: a first terminal; a second terminal; a stationary contact; a movable contact; trip means and a dielectric plate. The first terminal and the second terminal are externally connected with each other. The stationary contact is electrically connected to the first terminal. The movable contact is electrically connected to the second terminal and is movable between a contact closing position, which is a position connected to the stationary contact, and a trip position, which is a position apart from the stationary contact. The trip means moves the movable contact to the trip position when a current larger than a predetermined value flows between the first terminal and the second terminal while the movable contact is in the contact closing position. The dielectric plate is arranged along the trajectory of the movable contact between the contact closing position and the trip position and has a projecting portion projecting to the trajectory in a width shorter than the length of the trajectory.
