Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a real-time display that is essential for the drawing of a virtual reality system by multiplying the luminance of every substance by a value that is obtained from a distance function and the compositing permeation value for deciding the new composite luminance of a gaseous substance and a planar definition substance.
SOLUTION: A gaseous substance has a luminance Ig, a visual axis point Z0 and the permeation value Ag, and a plane definition substance has a luminance Is and a visual point Z1. The visual point coordinate values Z0 and Z1 are subtracted from each other via a subtracter 7a, and this difference value dZ is outputted. For the luminance, a value selected by a multiplexer 11 is multiplied by the output value of a table 9 via a multiplier 8c. This multiplied value is then multiplied by the luminance Ig and Is through the multipliers 8d and 8e respectively and then added together via an adder 10b. Thus, a final luminance Ip is obtained. The outputs of the multiplier 8e are inverted by a subtracter 7b and then added. The composited luminance obtained in this a way is displayed directly, after being stored in another image memory.
