Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a clad material having the rubber-like elasticity necessary for forming an optical fiber having resilience by using a copolymer of 30-94wt.% acrylate expressed by the special general formula and 70-6wt.% (meth)acrylate. CONSTITUTION:The clad material for the optical fiber having a photosetting property is constituted of the copolymer of 30-94wt.% acrylate expressed by the formula I: CH2=CRCOO(CH2CH2)$dl$XY and 70-6wt.% (meth)acrylate expressed by the formula II: CH2=CRCOO(CH2CH2O) Y. In the general formula I, X is a fluorine atom, hydrogen atom; (n) is 1-2 integer; (m) is 1-8 integer. In the general formula II, R is a hydrogen atom or methyl group; Y is a dicyclopentenyl group or glycidyl group and (l) is 0 or 2. The rubber-like elastic clad material which is transparent and has a low refractive index is easily formed by photosetting this clad material.
