Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a clamping device adjustable to cutting knives of various dimensions/shapes in a simple configuration, and make a clamp jaw simply adjustable to a knife edge.
SOLUTION: This clamping device is for a cutting knife of a microtome, having a base member and a knife-mounting mechanism. The knife-mounting mechanism has a knife receiver part 4 with a blade-supporting part 5 and a depressing plate 6 with a clamp jaw 7. A rear face 8 of a cutting knife 2 is in touch with the blade-supporting part 5, and a front face 9 of the knife is in touch with the clamp jaw 7. The blade-supporting part 5 has a notch part 10 with which a thin end face 11 of the cutting knife 2 facing a knife edge 16 is held in touch. In order to clamp the cutting knife 2 between the clamp jaw 7 and blade-supporting part 5, an eccentric pin is provided, which is supported in a rotatable fashion by the base member 3. The base member 3 has a notch part 13 to accommodate the pressing plate 6 therein. Two adjustment screws 14 project from the notch part 13, so that a front edge 5 of the clamp jaw 7 can be adjusted to be parallel to the knife edge 16 by means of the screws.
