Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a clathrate compound comprising thioctic acid and a cyclodextrin (derivative) and being capable of giving a toothpaste or an effervescent tablet which enables the peroral administration of a high dosage of thioctic acid being an effective therapeutic agent against AIDS in the early stage and having a very unpleasant taste to a patient.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided a clathrate compound comprising (R)-thioctic acid and cyclodextrin or a cyclodextrin derivative, a clathrate compound comprising (S)-thioctic acid and cyclodextrin or a cyclodextrin derivative, a clathrate compound comprising (R)-dihydrolipoic acid and cyclodextrin or a cyclodextrin derivative, and a clathrate compound comprising (S)-dihydrolipoic acid and cyclodextrin or a cyclodextrin derivative. The cyclodextrin used is β- cyclodextrin. These clathrate compounds can be obtained by suspending thioctic acid or dihydrolipoic acid in water, adding cyclodextrin to the suspension, and cooling the mixture. A flavoring agent, a sweetening agent, and an aromatic agent are also added.
