PURPOSE: To obtain the device which does not cause degradation in its cleaning effect over a long period of time by letting the cleaning roller, which revolves in contact with the rotating member of the heat fixing device, reciprocate in the revolving axis direction.

CONSTITUTION: Toner, etc. are cleaned by the left material 151 on the outside circumferential surface of a cleaning roller 15 which turns cooperatively with a heating roller 51 of metal material containing a heater 61 in its hollow part and turning in contact with the fixing roller, by being pressure-contacted with the roller 51 the elastic force of its spring 25. This roller 15 is turned about its shaft 23 and is at the same time reciprocated in the axial direction of the shaft 23 by the spiral groove cam of the roller 15 in which the cam folloer of the roller 51 is fitted, whereby cleaning of a substantially wide area of the roller 51 is accomplished. This good cleaning prevents the backward offset of the toner from the roller 51 to the fixing roller.
