PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning apparatus for cleaning a metal container which is compact, excellent in terms of portability and storability, and capable of obtaining, based on a simple constitution and method, hydrogen peroxide for generating hydroxide radicals and an electrolyte.SOLUTION: The cleaning apparatus 1 of the present invention for cleaning a metal container includes: a negative electrode 5 for impressing a negative voltage onto a metal container 11 filled with a cleaning liquid 20 into which a hydrogen peroxide generator generating hydrogen peroxide as a result of the dissolution thereof within water has been dissolved; a positive electrode 6 for impressing a positive voltage onto the cleaning liquid 20; and an electric power supply 7 for impressing a voltage between the negative electrode 5 and positive electrode 6 so as to clean the container inner surface 51 with hydroxide radicals generated at the time of the impression of the voltage. Both hydrogen peroxide generating hydroxide radicals having a powerful pollutant decomposition power and an electrolyte enabling the electrolysis of the cleaning liquid 20 at a low voltage commensurate with that of a dry cell 21 can be easily obtained by simply dissolving the hydrogen peroxide generator within water.
