After transferring, when the detecting section 8 detects that the waste toner in the storage chamber 4 reaches a prescribed quantity, removing means 3 part from a surface of the photosensitive drum 1. In this way, the waste toner is carried to a site of temporarily storing means 7 while remaining intact on the surface of the photosensitive drum 1. The waste toner is stripped from the photosensitive drum surface by the temporarily storing means 7 while temporarily stored. After completion of recording, the waste toner is discharged from the temporarily storing means 7, and returned to the storage chamber 2.
