Abstract:

To provide a cleaning device capable of stably supplying a lubricant to an image carrier for a long time in a method for firmly pressing a solid lubricant by means of a spring.

The cleaning device firmly presses the solid lubricant against a rotatable lubricant-applying brush by a firmly pressing means, thereby supplying the lubricant to the image carrier via the lubricant-applying brush. This cleaning device includes a means for bringing the bristles of the lubricant-applying brush into contact with the solid lubricant while the bristles are elastically deformed.
