Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a cleaning device (14) comprises a suction port portion (61c), a guide portion (72), and an urging member (73). The suction port portion is configured to face a nozzle plate (22) of a liquid discharge head (12) at a predetermined gap distance between the suction port and the nozzle plate. The guide portion is configured to face a cover mask (26) of the liquid discharge head and is moveable in a direction away from the cover mask. The cover mask covers a periphery of a surface of the nozzle plate. The urging member (73) is configured to urge the guide portion (72) toward the cover mask (26).
