To provide a cleaning medium for a magnetic recording apparatus, which achieves high cleaning capability to a magnetic head of a high-density magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, especially to MR head, reduces abrasion of the head, removes contaminants with moderate cleaning capability, and restores the reproduction output.
In this cleaning medium for the magnetic recording apparatus, a cleaning layer containing inorganic powder made of at least ferromagnetic powder and a binder, is provided on a non-magnetic support. The cleaning medium for the magnetic recording apparatus is characterized in that the surface occupying percentage of a polisher in the cleaning layer surface ranges from 2.0 to 5.0%.
