To provide a cleaning method by which a mask for sealing a honeycomb structure can be satisfactorily cleaned.
The cleaning method for cleaning a mask 1 which has a plurality of through-holes 5 penetrating from an upper surface 1a to a lower surface 1b in a thickness direction D1 includes: a conveyance step for conveying the mask 1 by a wheel conveyor 7 in a conveying direction D2 orthogonal to the thickness direction D1 in a state where the mask 1 is held in the thickness direction D1 between wheel conveyors 7; and a cleaning step for supplying a cleaning liquid or air to at least one of the upper surface 1a and the lower surface 1b of the mask 1 to be conveyed. Further the wheel conveyor 7 has a plurality of pairs of wheels 7a, 7b arrayed in a staggered manner along the conveyance direction D2 of the mask 1.
