To provide a cleaning method for a Tatami mat (Japanese life style rush mat) by which dust, and the like, piled between a Tatami facing and a Tatami base can be removed while the Tatami mat is laid on without carrying out the Tatami mat outside and the Tatami mat can be refreshed including a sanitary aspect.
In order to clean the Tatami mat, a detergent is sprinkled on the Tatami mat in a state where the Tatami mat is laid in a room, then after being left for 1 to 15 minutes till the Tatami mat comes to be in a state where dirt is floated up, the Tatami mat is subjected to brushing along a mesh of the Tatami mat, if necessary. Thereafter, rinsing washing in which, while injecting spring water or warm water to the Tatami facing, moisture is removed by suction, is performed. After the rinsing washing is finished, the Tatami mat is dried using a blower, or the like.
