Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improved and efficient residual ink removal from an imaging member following the transfer of the majority of ink from the imaging member to a substrate and prior to a subsequent ink application to the imaging member.SOLUTION: A viscosity control unit 180 hardens residual ink on an imaging member 110 to produce hardened residual ink. By increasing the viscosity of the residual ink before it is removed by a cleaning station 170, the removal of the residual ink from the imaging member 110 becomes easier and more efficient.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
