Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject cosmetic excellent in cleansability against make-up stains, etc., and good in storage stability by heating starch, a hydrophilic nonionic surfactant and water at a temperature not lower than the gelatinization temperature of the starch for a specific time.
SOLUTION: This cosmetic is obtained by heating (A) 1-40 wt.% (based on the whole amount of the cosmetic) of starch (e.g. corn starch), (B) 1-20 wt.% of a hydrophilic nonionic surfactant (e.g. a sucrose fatty acid ester) preferably having a HLB of ≥8, and (C) water in an amount of 2-95 wt.% which is two times or more the dry weight of the component A at a temperature not lower than the gelatinization temperature of the component A for ≥30 min, and, if necessary, further adding a plant extract, a humectant, a refreshing agent, a UV absorbent, an antiseptic, an antioxidant, a perfume, etc. The gelatinization temperature of the starch depends on the kinds of the starch and the components used together therewith, and further depends on the surfactant, salts, the shape of starch particles and the diameter of the starch particles.
