Title:
CLEAR COATING METHOD OF CHROME PLATED SURFACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001070872
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To improve not only initial sticking property and sticking property after endurance but appearance by applying a clear coating material, which is prepared by dispersively blending a coating film glittering material formed by coating the surface of a glitter with a translucent material in an optical thickness to show interference action, on a chrome plated surface to form a clear coating film layer.

The clear coating film layer 3 is formed by applying the clear coating material on the chrome plated surface 1. As the clear coating material, a coating material obtained, for example, by disperirely blending the coating film glittering material 2 formed by coating the surface of mica with a silica as the translucent material in a coating material prepared by adding a curing agent composed of a silane base resin or an isocyanate in an acrylic monomer is prepared. The thickness of the silica coating film is controlled to 0.1-1.0 μm to be the optical thickness to show the interference action. The particle diameter of the mica is controlled to 5-30 μm in minor diameter and major diameter to look through the silver white chrome plating and the ratio by weight of coating film glittering material 2 to the solid coating material portion is controlled to 3-15%, e.g. about 7%.
