PURPOSE: To provide a clear cosmetic containing a polyhydric alcohol having ≥2 OH groups in the molecule, water, an amino acid-base hydrophilic surfactant and a liquid oil, having high transparency, broad transparent region and high safety and giving good feeling to the skin.

CONSTITUTION: The objective clear cosmetic contains (A) a polyhydric alcohol having ≥2 hydroxyl groups in the molecule (especially preferably glycerol, sorbitol, etc.), (B) water, (C) an amino acid-base hydrophilic surfactant (e.g. hardened castor oil pyroglutamic acid isostearic acid diester, etc., having HLB of ≥9) and (D) a liquid oil (e.g. 2-ethylhexanoic acid triglyceride, olive oil, etc.) in combination. The cosmetic can be extremely easily produced and keeps excellent transparency over a broad temperature range even after long-term storage. It has high safety and gives excellent feeling to the skin.
