Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce any error caused by product dispersion by setting the scale of a displacement detection means to zero point owing to a push up load applied to the valve side end part of a rocker arm and rotating an adjustment screw until the displacement detection means exceeds the zero point of the rocker arm after loosing a nut and setting a scale zero point by reversing the rotation.
CONSTITUTION: An adjustment screw 11 is positioned by pressing the side end part 10b of a rocker arm 10 by a rocker arm pressing unit 14 and a push up arm 20 is swung to the down side of the valve side end part 10a and pulled upward, a prescribed push up load is applied thereto and the Mg scale 26 of a clearance amount detection unit is set to the zero point. Then, after loosing a nut 12 and rotating the adjustment screw 11 in its normal direction, the Mg scale zero point is found out by reversing its rotation and the nut 12 is tightened and the adjustment screw 11 is locked. The Mg scale 26 is set to the zero point and the push up arm 20 is swung and the scale value of the Mg scale 26 is read. Thus, a clearance error is eliminated.
