Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable extracting a clock signal from which a timing jitter is eliminated even if the large timing jitter is contained in an optical pulse signal.
SOLUTION: A clock signal extracting apparatus 125 consists of an optical modulating unit 120 and a clock signal/feedback signal generating unit 100. The optical modulating unit is configured in such a way that a first EAM 92 for modulating an optical pulse signal, an optical amplifier 94 for amplifying an optical output signal 93 of the first EAM 92, and a second EAM 96 for modulating an output 95 of this optical amplifier are connected in cascade in the order of the first EAM, optical amplifier and the second EAM. An optical pulse signal 48 is input into the optical modulating unit, modulated by an electric signal 79 and outputted as a modulated optical pulse signal 51. This modulated optical pulse signal is input into the clock signal/feedback signal generating unit, and a clock signal 80 having a frequency f/N GHz is extracted.
