Title:
CLONED GENE ENCODING BACTERIOCIN FROM PEDIOCOCCUS ACIDILACTICI
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2618148
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new nucleotide sequence useful for producing a bacteriocin, active against gram-positive lactic acid bacteria and Listeria monocytogenes.
CONSTITUTION: This nucleotide sequence is isolatable from a strain belonging to the genus Pediococcus, and has a nucleotide sequence containing both genes of a bacteriocin precursor and at least one protein essential for obtaining functionally active bacteriocin or an RNA sequence corresponding to it. The nucleotide sequence is readily introduced from Pediococcus acidilactici-NRRL-B-18,050 and a gene related to the baceriocin exists on 9.0 kbp plasmid of pSRQ11 (the restriction map is shown by the figure).
