PURPOSE: To quickly detect a synchronizing word only by initial frame by detecting the synchronizing word by a receiver and informing to the effect of establishment of synchronism to a transmitter.
CONSTITUTION: Plural synchronizing words which are the same as a tentative synchronizing word are inserted into a data part and transmitted in addition to synchronizing words previously determined in one frame. When synchronizing word retrieval is started at the point (a) of time, synchronizing words (b), (c) can be detected and the two synchronizing words can be detected only by receiving the data of (α+20+20) bits. A true synchronizing word is detected after detecting tentative synchronizing words, and if how many synchronizing words to be inserted into one frame is previously determined, the true synchronizing word can be detected on a position gone back from the point of time of disabling the detection of a synchronizing word by the prescribed number of synchronizing words. The receiver informs the establishment of synchronism to the transmitter and the transmitter returns to frames only by normal synchronizing words to start transmission.
