To provide the cloth for bankbooks which has a flat and smooth nature, is hard to generate curling and is excellent in offset lithography property and ink jet printability, and its manufacturing process.

The cloth for bankbooks of this invention is of a layered construction containing a base material layer 10 having the base material, a front layer 11 formed by coating the surface coating liquid on the front face of the base material layer 10, a back layer 12 formed by coating the back coating liquid on the back face of the base material layer 10 and a thin paper layer 15 arranged with the adhesive layer 13 on the back layer 12. The front layer 11 is formed of the resin containing the inorganic powder and makes this powder contain coarse grains of larger average grain diameters and finer particles of smaller ones, where the ratio of the average grain diameters between the coarse and the finer of 1.5 times to 10 times. The resin having the glass dislocation temperature Tg of 40 degrees or more is used on the back layer.
