PURPOSE: To obtain the subject silk-like cloth having silky feeling and luster and excellent springiness and body by covering the surface of a fiber with a coating film composed of silk fibroin-high molecular weight protein-low molecular weight protein.
CONSTITUTION: A silk-like cloth having silky feeling and luster as well as rustling sound characteristic to silk can be produced by coating the surface of a fiber such as cellulosic fiber, semisynthetic fiber or synthetic fiber with a mixed aqueous solution produced by dissolving a foreign protein having a molecular weight of ≥100,000 (e.g. a kind of protein selected from atherocollagen, gelatin, etc.) and a foreign protein having a molecular weight of <100,000 (e.g. a kind of protein selected from glutamic acid, albumen, etc.) in an aqueous solution of silk fibroin derived from scrap silk fiber, and subjecting the coated cloth to moist-heat treatment to form a coating film accounting for 0.05-7.5wt.% based on the whole weight of the cloth.
