Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH072615
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide cloth impregnated with an antimicrobial disinfectant which can not only surely disinfect the area wiped with the cloth, but also sustain the antimicrobial effect for a long period of time after wiping.

CONSTITUTION: It has been confirmed that D-limonene as a principal ingredient of citrus oil has antibacterial activity, namely inhibits the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, particularly methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA). Particularly, the cloth impregnated with a disinfectant containing a microbicidal agent for medical purposes and limonene has been found to have microbicidal and antimicrobial activities against microorganisms on the area wiped therewith. When limonene content is over 0.8wt.%, the antibacterial activity is sustained after the microbicidal treatment. Further, more than 1.0wt.% significantly develops antibacterial effect against MRSA, too.
