PURPOSE: To prevent the accidental damage of woven cloth in the attaching and detaching of a reflection plate and prevent the error in detection with a sensor head or the damage of woven cloth caused by foreign materials such as fly waste liable to accumulate near the insertion port for woven cloth.
CONSTITUTION: A cloth inspecting apparatus provided with a container box 7 and a reflection plate 9 is placed between a cloth fell W1 and an expansion bar 3. Woven cloth W is transferred between the container box 7 and the reflection plate 9 and inspected with a sensor head placed in the container box 7 and scanning the cloth in lateral direction. An introduction part 9a expanding in the direction separating from the woven cloth W and having a round edge is formed on the reflection plate 9 at the side to accept the woven cloth W. A brush 13 having a width wider than the width of the woven cloth W is placed at a side of the introduction part 9a. Foreign materials such as fly waste attached to the surface of the woven cloth W is removed with the brush 13. The introduction part 9a having the above structure does not cause the damage of the woven cloth W and the accumulation of foreign materials such as fly waste at the introduction part 9a.
