To enable clothing to be efficiently dried by composing a clothing dryer selective to dry clothing by ventilating a drying chamber by outdoor air blown by a blower means or to dry clothing by making a closed loop between a blower part and a drying chamber and circulating dehumidified air dehumidified by a dehumidifying means.
When washing in a drying chamber 10 is to be dried, air switching means 24, 30 are switched by a control means 31 so as to open a ventilating pipe 27 side and close a dehumidifying means 22 side to actuate a blower means 18 when the outer air condition detected by a temperature and humidity detecting means 20 is higher in temperature and lower in humidity compared to the standard condition. Thereby outdoor air is taken in to dry washing. On the other hand, the air switching means 24 is switched so as to close the ventilating pipe 27 side and open the dehumidifying means 22 side, and a suction port 17 is closed by an air switching means 28 and an exhaust port 15 is closed by an air switching means 15 when the condition of outdoor air is in low temperature and low humidity, low temperature and high humidity, and high temperature and high humidity. Thereby air is circulated via the dehumidifying means 22 to dry washing.
