To provide a clutch brake controller of a mechanical press, in which the controller is simply composed, and which is not affected by an outside-air temperature and accurately controls stopping at the top dead center of a slide.
A mechanical press that controls the stop position of a slide S at the top dead center by using a wet type clutch brake includes: an electromagnetic drive type servo V1 for controlling the pressure of a hydraulic fluid at a supply/discharge time, which is connected to an oil route 32 for supplying/discharging a hydraulic fluid to/from a clutch cylinder 25; and a controller 40 for outputting a command signal, which is expressed by electric quantity for commanding switching of the valve position of the electromagnetic drive type servo V1 and the target pressure of the servo V1. The stop position of the slide S at the top dead center is obtained using a soft brake by a timing advance controlling means of the controller 40, and further the electric quantity of the command signal for achieving the soft brake is increased or decreased into a magnitude to advance or retard the stop position of the slide S at the top dead center. FF control is conducted based on the cooling oil temperature of the clutch brake immediately after startup of the press, and, when reaching a normal operation, FB control is conducted based on the actual stop position.
