Abstract:
PURPOSE:To integrate a clutch and a brake with each other, enable their attachment and detachment as a unit and reduce the number of parts and the size of the unit, by opposing the clutch and the brake to each other, interposing a spring between them and jointly using the spring for the clutch and the brake. CONSTITUTION:A clutch 1 is composed of an input and an output-side clutch members 4, 6, friction plates 7a, 7b alternately spline-coupled to the clutch members and a clutch push plate 8, which is moved in a direction away from the friction plates. A brake 2 is composed of an output and a frame-side brake members 10, 12 brake friction plates 13a, 13b alternately spline-coupled to the brake members, and a brake push plate 14, which is moved in a direction away from the brake friction plates. The clutch 1 and the brake 2 are opposed to each other. A spring 16 is interposed between both the push plates 8, 14. The clutch members 4, 6 are engaged with each other in the axial direction. The brake members 10, 12 are also engaged with each other in the axial direction. A clutch brake is thus constructed.
