To reduce a drive loss of an engine and to contribute to reduction of fuel consumption in the engine while a connection state of a clutch is maintained by a hydraulic cylinder in a vehicle power unit, which includes the clutch interposed between the engine and a transmission to turn to a state of transmitting power when the hydraulic cylinder is actuated.
Electromagnetic opening and closing valves 40A, 40B are interposed in connecting oil passages 39A, 39B that connect between an oil pump 36 driven by an electric motor 37 and hydraulic cylinders 35A, 35B. A control unit C for controlling actuation of the electric motor 37 and the electromagnetic opening and closing valves 40A, 40B is configured to close the electromagnetic opening and closing valves 40A, 40B when clutches 15A, 15B are connected to keep the hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic cylinders 35A, 35B, and to stop actuation of the electric motor 37.
