Title:
CLUTCH MECHANISM OF MOTORCYCLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5919722
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make is possible to perform, by using a r.p.m. dependent clutch, a clutch operation similar to that which is performed by a skilled operation technique, by a method wherein the r.p.m. dependent clutch is interposed between a crankshaft and a manual clutch. CONSTITUTION:When the engine of a motorcycle begins to operate in its medium speed operation zone, the output torque lowers to have a trough as shown by the line A in the attached graph. The r.p.m. dependent clutch 2 attached to one end of the crankshaft 1 connected to the engine has a rapidly increasing transmission torque characteristic as shown by the line B in the attached graph. Further, the clutch 2 is so set that its transmission torque increases always at a level lower than the output torque but the transmission torque exceeds the output torque at a point at which the latter shifts around its upper limit and such point is called a stall r.p.m. point. Therefore, even when the manual clutch 3 is connected while the engine r.p.m. is kept reduced, the engine begins to rotate at an increasing speed upon opening the accelerator and the stall r.m.p. is reached, its torque is transmitted to the rear wheel of the motorcycle so that the accelerating operation is performed without any skill.
