PURPOSE: To dispense with a tunnel-shaped equipment so as to reduce the cost by constructing a belt conveyor of belt members which are turned into flat bodies on a driving drum and are curled up into cylindrical bodies in other areas when fed coal is transferred to a boiler furnace by means of the belt conveyor.
CONSTITUTION: On a conveying path in a coal conveying mechanism, a belt member consisting of pipe-shaped synthetic rubber 21, which is provided with steel cores 20 buried in the longitudinal direction for the purpose of reinforcement, is used in a bunker feeding conveyor 10 installed outdoors. The belt member exhibits a cylindrical shape, in which both end parts overlap each other and are sealed up, in a natural condition in which no external force is applied, while the inside wall of the belt member is opened when the belt member is brought into contact with a driving drum 18 or a tail drum 19 and external force is applied to it from the inside to the outside, so that it exhibits a U-shape to be turned into a flat plate ultimately. In the predetermined positions of the belt member, two-mountain partition plates 22 are fixed at proper intervals, and these partition plates 22 serves as partitions when the belt member is turned into a pipe-shape.
