A back surface coating can comprise hydrophobic beads suspended in a polymer blend comprising a hydrophilic polymer binder ingredient and a hydrophobic polymer binder ingredient. As a substitute for this, a compound comprising a hydrophobic binder blended with a natural wax can be used. Either one of the coatings can be directly applied on the back surface side of a base of a medium or can be applied on the surface of a conventional hydrophilic layer which has been ordinarily used for improving warpage and paper feeding behavior.
