To provide a coated steel sheet for a can which is equal in flavor sorption properties to a usual coat formed by using a bisphenol A type epoxy resin and also can withstand severe processing.
This coated metal sheet for the can has a constitution wherein a prime coat obtained by applying a prime coating composition (A) constituted of a polyester resin composition (a) and a resol type phenolic resin and/or an amino resin (b) is formed on at least one side of a metal sheet and a face coat obtained by applying a face coating composition (B) constituted of a polyester resin (c) having a glass transition temperature of 60-120°C, the resol type phenolic resin and/or an amino resin (d) and a lubricity giving agent (e) is formed on the prime coat. The polyester resin composition (a) is a polyester resin dispersion obtained by dispersing in an organic solvent a non-crystalline polyester resin (a1) having a glass transition temperature of -15 to 50°C, or the non-crystalline polyester resin (a1) and a crystalline polyester resin (a2).
