To provide a coated paper for gravure printing, exhibiting excellent printability in both of the gravure printing and offset printing to allow the common use.
The coated paper for the gravure printing has a coated layer obtained by coating a coating agent containing a pigment and an adhesive as essential components at least on one surface of the front and back surfaces of a base paper. The base paper contains ≥50 wt.% kraft pulp subjected to a beating treatment and formulated therewith. An aqueous solution of starch is coated at a size press step by a film-transfer type coater so that the amount of the attached starch in the aqueous solution of the starch, expressed in terms of the solid, may be 0.5-3.0 g/m2 per both surfaces. The pigment of the coating agent contains 2-40 pts.wt. organic pigment based on 100 pts.wt. total pigments, and the adhesive contains 0.5-5 pts.wt. starch based on 100 pts.wt. total pigments. The adhesive in the coating agent contains a copolymer latex having two or more Tg's regulated so that the lowest Tg is ≤-20°C, and the highest Tg is ≥-5°C. The specific stiffness of the coated paper for the gravure printing is regulated so as to be ≥30, and the internal strength is regulated so as to be ≥270 mJ.
