Both the sides of a Japanese paper having 4 mm average fiber length as a paper base are coated with a coating solution containing silica particles having 5.2 μm volume average particle diameter and a binder to form a transparent coated layer. The paper can be printed with a multicolor harmonizing pattern at a rate of several thousands to 10,000 papers per hour by a high- speed offset printing machine.
