PURPOSE: To obtain a can having superior corrosion resistance which withstands retort pasterilization by suppressing the formation of an iron oxide layer on the inside and outside surfaces of a joint, and applying an iron-tin alloy layer between a base plate and the iron oxide layer and resin paint on the joint at the time of producing a tin plate welded can.
CONSTITUTION: A tin plate 1 which is a blank material for cans is electric-welded between electrode rollers. The thickness of the outer iron oxide layers of the inside and outside surfaces of a joint is kept in a 50W400 range, and an iron-tin alloy layer having 5W100% thicknesses of the thickness of the entire tin layer of the tin plate blank material is formed between the base plate and the outer iron oxide layer, whereby the corrosion resistance and paint adhesiveness of the can joint are improved. A resin protecting layer 19 is provided in the part excluding the neighborhood of the can joint 3 and the joint part is made of a resin coating layer 4 of 95:5 up to 25:75 and 1:99 up to 20:80 by volume of a thermosetting resin S and a thermoppastic resin P. In the case of the former, the layer 4 consists of the continuous phase 13 of S and the dispersion phase 14 of S and in the case of the latter, it does of the continuous phase 15 of P and 15 and 16 of S.
