Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the title coating agent applicable on plain-woven air bag fabrics without penetrating onto the back surface, excellent in workability, safety, rubber physical properties and adhesiveness to air bag fabrics, also capable of forming cured film with surface non-applying means.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Firstly, an aqueous silicone emulsion is prepared by emulsifying an organopolysiloxane having in one molecule at least two hydroxyl groups bound to silicon atom, and is incorporated with a product which has been prepared by kneading (B) a reaction product of an aminofunctionalsilane (e.g. 3-aminopropyltoluethoxysilane) or its hydrolyzate and an acid anhydride, epoxyfunctionalsilane or its hydrolyzate etc., with (C) colloidal silica followed by mixing (D) a curing catalyst, thus obtaining the objective coating agent. Air bag fabric consisting of plain-woven base fabric such as of nylon or polyester is coated with this coating agent followed by curing. The air bag thus obtained will hardly develop cracks when expanded.
