PURPOSE: To obtain a coating agent for providing base paper of release paper having excellent barrier properties by coating a substrate of the release paper therewith.
CONSTITUTION: This coating agent for base paper of release paper contains 100 pts.wt. component (A), 1-10 pts.wt. component (B) and 0.002-0.1 pt.wt. component (C) as follows: component (A): a polyvinyl alcohol having ≥70mol% saponification degree; component (B): a water-soluble cellulosic derivative having 500-25000cP viscosity of an aqueous solution at 2wt.% concentration and component (C): a urethane condensate expressed by the formula [RO(C2H4O)1(C3H6 O)m]nX [R denotes a 1-12C alkyl group; X denotes a urethanization residue of a compound having 2 isocyanate groups; (1) denotes a number of 20-40; (m) denotes a number of 1-5; (n) denotes a number of 1-2; a part of the urethanization residue may be urethanized by alcohols or glycols when (n) is <2].
