To obtain a coating agent improved in two or more properties simultaneously, esp. capable of favorably bringing out the characteristics of the solid fine particles through the interaction between them and the wax, by incorporating a coating composition with wax and solid fine particles.

This coating agent is obtained by incorporating (A) a coating composition such as paint, varnish, lacquer, putty or manicure with (B) at least one kind of wax (e.g. shellac wax, rice wax, vegetable wax, (modified) polyethylene, (modified) polypropylene) and (C) at least one kind of solid fine particles (e.g. polyacetal powder, polytetrafluoroethylene powder, carbon black, metallic powder). Specifically, this coating agent, improved in both coatability and coating film thickness uniformity, is produced, for example, by dispersing the components B and C in a liquid medium to form a fine particle dispersion which, in turn, is added to the component A.
