Abstract:
Paper webs travelling at up to 5000 ft/min are coated with starch solution by passage through nip 33 of press rolls 31, 32. Starch is applied in excess to the rolls by rolls 45 or a fountain (Fig. 4), and metered by blades 38, 39.
