PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition, containing a specific pigment and an adhesive, excellent in whiteness, opacity of white paper and after printing, inking properties, optical characteristics and strength properties with hardly any deterioration in surface strength and useful for offset printing, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition containing a pigment (e.g. kaolin) containing ≥10% urea formaldehyde resin particulate associates having 0.01-2μm primary particle diameter, 0.5-5μm average secondary particle diameter (average associate diameter) and 100-300ml/100g oil absorption and/or 200-450% water holding degree and an adhesive such as casein or PVA. Furthermore, the above- mentioned composition is held on a support such as mechanical pulp to provide micro-coated paper and the content of the adhesive is preferably 5-50wt.% based on the whole weight of the dried coating content.
